Chocolate Factory

Story Summary

Willy Wonka’s famous chocolate factory is inviting five children to do inside to see the mystery working process. Those five are: Augustus Gloop, an enormously fat boy whose hobby is eating; Veruca Salt, a spoiled-rotten brat whose parents are wrapped around her little finger; Violet Beauregarde, a dim-witted gum-chewer with the fastest jaws around; Mike Teavee, a toy pistol-toting gangster-in-training who is obsessed with television; and Charlie Bucket, the book’s lead, is a poor starving boy. While visiting the amazing factory, the four children except Charlie have done something inappropriate and were no longer in the tour. At the end, Charlie has won Willy Wonka’s factory because he is honest and kind, brave and true.

Feeling and Thoughts

None of the kids sent home has a loving personality. Augustus is a greedy little boy. He just couldn’t stop eating in any situation. Veruca is a badly spoiled girl, she wanted anything that she has her eyes laid on. Violet is a gum addict. And Mike Teavee (TV), on the other hand, is obsessed with television. Those four youngster might be an insinuation of some nowadays children. This story may try to pass message to reader: only the kind-hearted boys or girls like Charlie would have such happy ending. The book also shows us how far people’s imaginary could go. Roald Dahl created the chocolate factory which has all sorts of marvelous things inside.
Things that ordinary people would not dream of have appeared in this book. It is like a wonderland of chocolate and candies. I think it is OK to have some fantasy. Fantasy takes us away from real life to let us take a break. After reading this book, I had had another place to let my mind relax.
